Like I had said in a previous post, Finally getting back down for spring fishing after a 9 year absence with my son Austin. Fishing was amazing, I have never caught that many nice smallmouth in my life. Set several personal records up to 17" . Austin caught one just short of 18" We probably only caught about 10 bass total less than 12" and most of those were baby largemouth. We caught a few really good LMB as well but not nearly as many. I also caught my personal best Crappie almost 15"
It was an incredible trip but a very different one. We used big ole chatter baits rather than smoke grubs we have relied on in the past. As the week went on, we found that a 1/16th oz jig with a little clear with blue and black fleck plastic was the trick. We caught our biggest fish on this small presentation.
We tried for some Stripers for about 15 min of trolling and nothing so we didn't bother.
