Always good to be on the Lake.
We caught the tale end of the warming period. Wednesday and Thursday were incredible! Wednesday AM we fished structure in the Lone Rock area. Mostly Ned rigs and hula grubs. It seemed like the fluorescent jig heads did a little bit better. The smallmouth were healthy and we pulled up some decent ones. Picked up a few largemouth that were on the smaller end. We tried chumming at the dam in the PM. Only caught 4 stripers and a fat catfish.
Thursday we travelled to warm creek. We caught 18 Largemouth and 32 smallmouth and a bonus walleye. Also picked up 10 stripers trolling deep divers around 10-12 ft.
The next two days were a little tougher. We stayed close to the marina because of the incoming storms. Still managed to catch a bunch of fish. Just had to work harder for them. Hooked into a Gizzard shad that Dan weighed at 2.75 lbs.
Fun trip. We never really got into the stripers. The ones we caught were healthy and gave the boys a good fight.IMG_0034.jpeg

You all did great, nice variety of fish! except that ugly Gizzard Shad!, only joking, Gizzard Shad have been great for the lake, especially providing forage on years when threadfin shad numbers are down. The shad are just now starting to spawn, that means in the next few weeks there will be a vast resource of food available in the form of larval shad, until then game fish (especially stripers) have to work harder for their meals, which works out well for anglers, then again, it's all good and fun when stripers start to slurp shad on the surface, can't go wrong. Thanks for the report.
