I am so glad you came to say hi in Last Chance! It's always great to see you.
I wanted to let you know about our fishing trip and thank you for creating the best fishery in the world! Nothing is quite like fishing Powell.
I included some pictures of my family and the fish we caught. The striper fishing was unbelievable. We caught them mostly by using 1/2 anchovies and sinking them to the bottom in 20 - 30 ft depth. The stripers really got going around 10 am and again in the evening. On our way out of last chance canyon we encountered around 10 separate boils over a 2 hour houseboat ride. The action was frequent. While cleaning the stripers I inspected their stomachs to find everyone of them having an empty stomach... Hope this isn't demonstrating a lack of shad to feed on.
In addition to the stripers we also caught a lot of small mouth bass using a mixture of trolling crank bait divers at 10 ft and throwing single tail Yamamoto's at submerged rock structure. Any color worked - Pumpkin, Watermelon, Orange and Purple. The smallmouth all had a stomach full of crawfish.
After the sun went down we started catching Catfish using worms and 1/2 anchovies just right under the boat at 10 - 15 ft depth and even caught 1 bluegill.
My estimation is 100 total fish over 5 days of fishing 2 -3 hours per day.
I only have one complaint... You didn't come pick me up and take me fishing with you! :)codytson1
